CCRIS vs CTOS: what to check before a housing loan
Separate financing records from credit scores, check the right report and resolve errors before applying.

CCRIS: BNM operates this system using information from participating financial institutions. It shows financing details and a rolling 12-month repayment history. BNM does not assign a credit score, blacklist a borrower or approve a bank loan. The application information covers pending and recent approved applications; rejected applications are not provided in CCRIS reports.
CTOS: this private credit reporting agency is separate from BNM. With the required consent and depending on the product, reports can include business interests, litigation, bankruptcy and other credit information. CTOS offers a proprietary Score from 300 to 850; a higher score is not a guaranteed approval or interest rate.
Access and fees: your own CCRIS report is available free through the official eCCRIS channel. CTOS currently lists a free Basic Report without CCRIS or Score; fuller products are chargeable under their own terms. Check the current contents and price before choosing. You can read this guide without buying a credit report; ask the lender which documents it needs.
Before applying: check that accounts, balances and repayments belong to you and are accurate. Refer a genuine CCRIS error to the reporting financial institution, and a CTOS error to its formal dispute channel. Repaying arrears does not instantly remove the past repayment record. Do not pay an intermediary to “wipe” accurate history.
Bank assessment still matters: ask the lender to consider verified income, all existing debts, affordability, financing margin and the property. There is no single website score or universal DSR that confirms approval. Keep passwords, OTPs and full reports off public enquiry forms; use a verified secure bank channel when documents are required.
