Before searching for a rental: budget, documents and viewing SOP
Set the all-in monthly budget, verify the unit and record its condition before paying.
Set a monthly ceiling that includes rent, utilities, parking, internet, travel and recurring service charges. Prepare identification, income or employment support and your preferred move-in date, occupants, pets and lease length.
At viewing, confirm the person authorised to rent the property, included fixtures, parking, utility accounts, defects, access rules and repair expectations. Do not transfer money only because someone creates urgency; obtain written payment terms and a receipt.
Before moving in, read the tenancy agreement, attach a dated inventory and photographs, record meter readings and confirm keys. Arrange stamping through the proper process and keep the signed agreement and payment evidence.
