Look beyond the renovation when viewing a landed home
Use a consistent inspection order for the site, structure, services and neighbourhood.

Start outside with the roofline, visible cracks, boundary, drainage and ground level. Inside, check signs of leakage, water pressure, ventilation, daylight, doors, windows and electrical points. Photograph concerns with permission.
Confirm what is included in the sale and ask whether extensions or material changes were approved. A viewing is not a structural inspection; engage an appropriate professional where a defect could be costly.
Return at a different time to observe traffic, noise, parking and the immediate neighbours. Location and land conditions are harder to change than finishes.
