Are CTOS and CCRIS blacklists, and how do I correct a wrong record?
CCRIS is BNM's credit-information system, not a blacklist or BNM approval score. CTOS is a separate credit-reporting agency. A lender makes its own credit decision. Correct an inaccurate entry through the reporting institution or CTOS dispute process; accurate adverse history is not something an agent can simply delete.
What to do next
Retrieve your own eCCRIS report and review the relevant CTOS report; keep account numbers and supporting receipts private.
For a CCRIS facility error, contact the reporting lender's complaints unit. For a CTOS error, use CTOS's official dispute channel with supporting documents.
Keep the case reference, obtain the correction or settlement confirmation and ask the mortgage bank when it can reassess.
Settlement does not erase all historical late payments immediately. Do not share an eCCRIS password or OTP, and do not buy a promised 'blacklist cleaning' service.
What is the difference between CCRIS and CTOS before applying for a home loan?
CCRIS is BNM’s financing and repayment record, including a 12-month repayment history; BNM gives no credit score or lending decision. CTOS is a separate private credit reporting agency. Its products can include public/legal records and, where included, a CTOS Score from 300 to 850 and CCRIS data. Its free Basic Report does not include CCRIS or the Score; full products may cost money. No report or score guarantees a home loan.
What to do next
Start at BNM’s official eCCRIS channel for your own free report; check facilities, repayment history and application status.
If you use CTOS, confirm which fields the selected report contains and any fee before ordering; you need not buy a report just to read this guide.
Send genuine CCRIS errors to the reporting bank and CTOS errors through its dispute channel; ask the lender to assess income, debts, affordability and property separately.
CCRIS is not a blacklist. Its application section covers pending and recent approved applications, not a universal list of rejected applications. Settling arrears does not instantly erase past repayment history. Never share eCCRIS/CTOS passwords, OTPs or a full credit report in this public form.
Can I apply in my own name if I am salaried or self-employed?
Individual home-loan applications are available. The bank checks the applicant's provable income, debts, credit record and property. Self-employment or irregular income is not an automatic rejection, but the bank needs acceptable evidence. A personal loan is a different product from a home loan secured on the property.
What to do next
Ask the selected bank for its salaried or self-employed document checklist.
Prepare genuine income, bank, tax and business records as requested; submit them only through the bank's official secure channel, not a public question form.
Let the bank assess the affordable amount before committing to a property; the lawyer confirms the buyer/title arrangement.
Using your name means taking the contractual liability. Do not lend your identity, fabricate payslips or hide a separate borrowing arrangement.
